The civil status register recognizes her by the name Nanfack Ndengue Tezano Martine renamed Teety Tezano is from the Grass Fields of Cameroon, precisely from the West region. Teety Tezano is a humanitarian at heart who has been carrying out social activities for many years as part of her association ALAME (Association La Main d’Elisabeth) which assists orphans and women in distress. She is a multi-talented individual and likes to try her hand at everything – new challenges. It is from there that she has featured in several major artistic projects such as the Unstoppable I & II campaign by the mobile telephony giant MTN, the Touch Away advertising campaign in 2016.
Her most recent project “kwassa kwassa” released in August 2024, which is a flagship title announcing an album in the near future is a witness to her talent and position in the African music scene. She sings mainly in English, Pidgin and Yemba, her vernacular. Her musical genre is mainly pop, Afrobeat, highlife, RnB, or sometimes a set of ternary rhythms from her cultural mix and experiences. So any discerning music lover will find a unique listening pleasure.
She has accompanied many international and local artists such as Rachid Ben Adj, Joss Stone, Baba Maal among others (some of them having won local and international awards) in their projects while perfecting herself and presenting her works to the general public.
The depth of her lyrics and songs come from a mixture of the musical environment that saw herself grow up and the current musical context, especially through her multiple travels and exposure to various cultures. Within this sphere where diverse rhythms rub shoulders in all relaxations, Teety Tezano has been able to draw authentic and particular inspiration from the melodies and rhythms that rocked her during her childhood and adolescence as the daughter of a legend of African music and as an informed observer of the artistic atmosphere of this environment.
However, Teety Tezano’s story with music is so deep that we cannot avoid talking about it to better appreciated. It is full of originality. Her love for music stems from her father, Johnny Tezano, himself a singer-songwriter and icon of Cameroonian music during the 80s and 90s and marked the minds of music lovers with his hit song “kwassa kwassa” now remixed by his daughter Teety Tezano who has caught the attention of more than one since its release.
