Dupree Koual, Quinta Eyongashu and Seehofer Roland. You are probably wondering who these individuals are. For some of you, these names are not unfamiliar. These, keep calm, are the valiant Cameroonian actors who were nominated for the 2023 edition of the Nollywood African Golden Awards. The event which was held on October 28, 2023 in Nigeria is a significant step forward for green-red-yellow cinema which was represented there for the first time.
It is undoubtedly a boon for the Cameroonian 7th art. Indeed, a few talented Cameroonian actors featured on the runner list for the Nollywood African Golden Awards nominations. Proof that the daily work done by these actors is not in vain. But above all, the art of our country, cinematographically speaking, is regaining its letters of nobility.
What is the African Nollywood Golden Awards?
For information, the Nollywood African Golden Awards is an award ceremony which aims to honor Nollywood actors and those in the performing arts both in Africa and in the diaspora. It also consists of creating networking between these African cinema professionals. A real exchange platform. Let’s hope that our compatriots will return with trophies.
Cameroon on the forefront
Indeed, Dupree Koual and Seehofer Roland were nominated in the Best African Actor Category in French zone and Diaspora while Quinta Eyongashu, grabbed the best Nollywood actress in Cameroon. They were therefore the standard bearers of Cameroon at this honorary ceremony in Nigeria. It must be said that these Cameroonian cinema professionals are not at their first competition. Dupree Koual, for instance the 2023 best Nollywood African Actor in the Europe (which puts in competition actors in French Africa). Seehofer Roland on his side received Best Nollywood Actor in Cameroon for supporting role.
Actor Dupree Koual, who couples as CEO of an audiovisual production company, won the Best African Movie Actor in the Diaspora award during the ceremony. Coronations which justify the talent of the latter and which are the pride of 237. In order for this to continue, Cameroonians are invited to massively follow the work of these worthy ambassadors.
